I offer a free initial call over the phone or meeting onsite to discuss the potential project allowing both sides to determine if working together would be a good fit. It also allows me to gather information for the development of a fee proposal should you want to proceed with your project.

We’ll get together for an agreed upon time, typically 1-3 hours, at a nursery in the Portland Metro Area. We will walk the nursery and we will talk about your spaces - do they get a lot of sun, is there a moist area - and then look at plants that will fit the requirements of the space but also meet your aesthetic. This can be a stand-alone service, just to give you planting ideas to then execute on your own, or it can be part of a more intensive project with further design services and construction drawings.

This package is for someone looking for a full planting design for all or maybe just a part of your property. This package will get you a final annotated planting plan that you can either give to a contractor or plant from yourself if you’re a DIYer. The fee will be customized based on the size of the planting areas.

The process that this might look like would be first, we would talk about vision and your likes and your dislikes when it comes to plants - you may not like the color purple or pokey things. Then, I would do some investigation of your spaces, see what kind of sunlight you get and what kind of soils you might have. I would then do some field measuring to create a base plan so I can start to draw things up. Next, I would draw up a preliminary plan, mainly looking at the structure of the spaces and come up with some plant options. I would then come back to your to present what I have so far. I would then take whatever feedback you have and keep working on a little bit more refined plan, this time starting to put specific plants in specific places. I might come up with a few options. Then I’ll present back to you. I’ll then take that feedback and create a final plan that either you or a contractor can plant from.

This again could be a stand-alone package or be part of a larger project but it’s for someone looking to redo all or some of your hardscape areas like driveways, patios, walkways, etc. We would work together to look at both the layout and material choices. We might stake out the area(s) and obtain material samples so you can make informed decisions. We provide a final plan that a contractor or you (if you’re a DIYer) can build from. The fee will be customized based on the size of the areas to be designed.

This option is for the homeowner that wants to totally reimagine a significant area of their property. This would include all the services previously listed - initial consultation, brainstorming session, nursery walk, planting and hardscape design. You might also choose to include additional services like lighting or outdoor furnishings. The fee will be customized based on scope and size of project.

The process for this might go something like this. First we would have our kickoff meeting where I learn everything I can about you, your spaces, your hope and dreams as well as your dislikes. I would then do some site investigation, getting to know the place, seeing what kind of sunlight it receives, seeing what kind of soils it has, and seeing what kind of relationships the different spaces have to one another. I would then do some measurements to create a site base plan so I can accurately draw things to scale which is extremely important. Next I would literally go to the drawing board to put together the base and then start coming up with ideas. I would then come back to you and present you with several ideas as well as some mood boards. I would then take your feedback and narrow down the options to one or two, present them again and get more feedback. Finally I would take that last feedback and create a single plan. Then depending on the scope of the project, I can either just give you a final annotated plan or I can create a full set of construction drawings that a contractor can build from. Again, this describes a somewhat typical process for this type of package.
